Sentimental Sundays – A Special Challenge

It’s time for the new Sentimental Sundays challenge and this week we have something very special for you. For our grown up crafters, we are challenging you to make a card or project for a special woman in your life. Don’t forget your sentiment! The challenge is being sponsored by both Deedee’s Digis and Raindrop Echo Designs. (More info on the special challenge after my card.)

With Mother’s day just a week away, I decided to make a card for mother in-law, who is a special woman in my life. I just found this whimsical dandelion digital image at Pink Petticoats and couldn’t wait to use it. I paired it with a sentiment from Raindrop Echo Designs.

We also have an additional, fun challenge for you this week. We'd like to see the kids get creative too! Gather your child, grandchild, niece, nephew, even a neighbor and get creative together! My daughter, Liz, has been wanting to learn how to use my Copic markers so we spent an evening together this week coloring. I think she really caught on to using them pretty quickly. She used “Cute Little Vase” from Moon Cookie Gallery, a new artist for Whimsy Stamps. Below is the book mark she made with the image she colored . Please stop by her blog (http://craftsbyliz.blogspot.com/) to see a bigger image and to leave her some love.

Stop by the Sentimental Sundays blog to download the free sentiment set from Raindrop Echo Designs and link your project for a special lady (plus a sentiment) and your kids challenge project. You can see some additional DT and special (children) DT members there too. I can’t wait to see what you make!

Please stop back later today for my post for the Whimsy Stamps May Digi release blog hop.

Thank you for stopping by!

    Music Saves My Soul

I have had this song in my head all week.  Maybe it is because I am hoping it will be warm enough to have my windows rolled down sometime soon.   Although there is not an official video for this song, the sound quality on this one is pretty good and it was recorded right in my own backyard.

If you would like to play along with us this week, please link up your song choice on Marcea’s blog

    Meljen’s Designs–Bookmark Challenge

You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend. ~Paul Sweeney

It’s Thursday so it means it is time to show off the new Meljen’s Designs release on Whimsy Stamps and announce the new challenge – “Make a Bookmark.”

I love reading and am usually reading 2 or 3 books at any one time. I thought I would take this opportunity to replace the receipts and scraps of paper that I have been using as bookmarks with a “real” bookmark. (That was the plan anyhow. My DD has already “pretty pleased” it out of me.) I used the corner bookmark tutorial HERE on Splitcoast Stampers.

Here is a peak at all of the new images available at Whimsy Stamps today.

Sorry my post is short today. My daughter is on spring break. Although I worked most of the week, I took some vacation days today and Friday. Today I think we are going to visit our closest Ikea for some additional shelves and goodies for my new craft room. I know that probably isn’t exactly how she hoped to spend spring break but we will do something more fun (museum, American Girl store?) tomorrow.

    Thank you for stopping by!

    Supplies:

    • Stamps: Thumbellina by Meljen’s Designs on Whimsy Stamps
    • Inks: None
    • Papers & CS: Papertrey kraft cs, Neenah Solar Crest CS, misc. October Afternoon DP (used scraps), misc. pink CS (also scraps)
    • Tools: Scor-Buddy, Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Martha Stewart edge punch, copic markers
    • Embellishments: Cotton Candy stickles

    A Special Challenge

I would like to invite you to stop by next week for a special Sentimental Sundays challenge! To give you a heads up, next week's challenge will be "Mother's Day" or "For a Woman." The reason why this one is special is that we will have an optional challenge of "Craft with a Child." We feel that it's a wonderful thing to be able to bond with a child through crafting and art!

For all those who submit something created by a son, daughter, niece, nephew, child next door, etc, you will automatically receive the Krafty Kids Sentiments for the crafty child and the Mother's Day Sentiments for the crafty adult who helped them. If you like, you can grab our button below to help us spread the word about our special challenge :)

    Catered Crop Linking Party (FTR10)

Last week I was excited to be picked as the inspiration for the Follow the Link Party on Catered Crop. I was given the opportunity to follow my recipe to make another card for the Top Chef Quickfire challenge. (You can see my inspiration card HERE.)

I recently found the digital images from Wax Fruit Company. I totally love these digis. Even though I have a zillion digital stamps, I just had to splurge and purchase a new one for the linking party. Isn’t this bunny CUTE??!!

Here’s how the Catered Crop "Follow-the-Recipe" linking party works. It is easy-peasy!

    1. Use any of the ingredients (themes, colors, techniques, shapes, etc.) in my recipe to make your project. Just pick a few ingredients and then add your own spices to cook up something uniquely yours.
    2. Add your project using the InLinz (froggy) button on the Catered Crop link party post to join the party.
    3. Keep the party going by clicking on some of the other entries and leaving a comment or two.
    4. Be sure to list your recipe or tell us what ingredient you used from the sample recipe.
    5. Don't forget to link back to this post or include the "I Followed the Recipe" button on your blog (see the side bar to the right).

    Here's myFTR10 recipe:

    • Pattern Paper – stripes, miniprints
    • Colors – pastels
    • Stamps – go digital, bunnies, butterflies, and flowers
    • Color Mediums – Copic markers, paint, white pens
    • Embellishments – burlap, pinwheels, twine, buttons, eyelets, brads
    • Tools – sewing machine, Cropadile, die cuts
    • Techniques – sewing, distressing
    • Theme – Spring

For my project, I used the following from the recipe:

    • Pattern Paper – stripes, miniprints
    • Stamps – go digital, bunnies
    • Color Mediums – Copic markers, paint
    • Embellishments – pinwheels, twine, buttons, eyelets, brads
    • Tools – sewing machine, Cropadile, die cuts
    • Techniques – sewing
    • Theme – Spring

I hope you will join the link party. It is so easy to join and a lot of fun!

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great week end!

    Candy, candy, candy!

** This post will stay at the top until 4-22-11. Please scroll down to see my new posts. **

I have so much exciting stuff going on during the month of April that I thought I would share the love with my blog readers by offering BLOG CANDY.

"What kind of exciting stuff?" you might be asking. Well, let me tell you.

On April 1st I am participating in to 2 fun blog hops. The first is to celebrate Meljen's Designs' first birthday and the second is to show off the fantastic new digi's being released on Whimsy Stamps for April. Both offer prizes so check back to see how you can win.

I have a hop later in the month to show off some new digis created by some talented artists to help raise money for Japan. (You'll be hearing more on this later!)

On April 15th, I will be able to share with all of you the big secret I have been keeping. I'll give you a little hint - it's big, it involves all forms of paper crafting, and it is going to be FUN!

Add in a guest designer spot for Shelly's Images later in the month and all the usual fun I have with the Sentimental Sundays challenges I am just bursting to share some of my good fortune.

So, want to know what you can win? One random winner will win 4 digital stamps of their choice from Meljen's Designs.

So, how can you win? It's simple. I want you to go the Meljen's Designs digital stamp store on Whimsy Stamps and pick out your favorite image and then enter using the linky tool below. When you type in your name also include the name of your favorite Meljen's digi. For example, I would enter "Cheryl (Caroling Snowman)". Please enter only once.

While I would love to have you as a follower and to spread the news about my candy, I won't make you do it for the drawing. If you like my blog, please consider signing up as a follower. Pretty please. :)

When you are looking through the Meljen's Design store, don't forget that all Melissa's digis are on sale for 50% off during the entire duration of the blog hop (which ends Monday, April 4th.)

Entry into the candy drawing will end on Friday, April 22nd, at 2 pm Eastern. I'll announce the winner on my blog on Saturday, April 23rd. The winner will have 1 week to claim their prize before I draw a new name. Good Luck!

    Meljen’s Designs - Masculine Challenge

**You still have time to enter the drawing for my Meljen’s Designs blog candy! Check out the details HERE!**

It’s Thursday so that means it is time for the new Meljen’s Designs release on Whimsy Stamps and the new challenge. This week we are challenging you to make a masculine project. Check out the Meljen’s Designs blog for the challenge details and more inspiration from the DT.

I used “Doctor Bear” from the brand new release (available today on Whimsy Stamps) to make a get well card. Since the challenge is to make a masculine project, I kept the design and embellishments rather simple. I added some distressing to the edges of the paper. I don’t know why but it seems I can’t make a masculine card with out some distressing. Notice, no sewing! I think since I worked the kinks out of my new sewing machine that I have had sewing on almost every card. I did sneak in a little paper piercing to keep it from being too plain. (And I used some of the new goodies from the scrapbook store bus tour I went on a couple of weeks ago. I love crafting with new goodies!)

I know, each week I say Melissa’s new images are the cutest and then the next week she comes up with something even cuter. But, here is a look at the newest, cutest images. They go perfectly with the Hero word art freebie posted on the Meljen’s Designs blog on Monday.

Let me tell you a little story behind this set that makes me love it even more than usual. A couple of weeks ago, the DT members were chatting on the design team blog and we came up with an idea for a cute set made up of heroes. Check it out! Melissa created a set for us. Isn’t that the coolest? I also love this set because it is perfect for OWH cards. I can also see using it for the various “heroes” in my life and it would be great for cards for little boys. Oh the ideas I have floating around in my head. So many ideas and not enough time to create them all.

I hope you will take some time to create a card for a man/boy in your life and join in our “masculine” challenge. I can’t wait to see what you make!

    Thank you for stopping by!

Sentimental Sundays - Easter or Spring

Rain, rain go away! I know, April showers bring May flowers but that doesn’t mean I have to like it! We had a little taste of summer last weekend but this week is cold and rainy. Brrrr…. Since the new Sentimental Sundays challenge is “Easter or Spring” I let our rainy, spring weather inspire me to make this card. I broke out some of the goodies I got during the scrapbook store bus tour I went on last weekend with a friend. We had a great time. I found 3 new. locally owned stores that had a wonderful variety of products. There were make & takes and special sales at each stop. And chocolate. What else could a girls want while shopping?

The designer paper and die for the flower used on this card were new. I added Glossy Accents to the puddle and rain drops to give them a bit of shine. I hope you will join the Sentimental Sundays team and enter our “Easter or Spring” challenge this week sponsored by Raindrop Echo Designs. Don’t forget to include a sentiment! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

    Supplies:

    • Stamps - Rainy Day Friend from Phindy's Place, Ticket Sentiments from Raindrop Echo Designs on Whimsy Stamps, Flowers with Love from Anabelle Stamps
    • Inks - Cranberry & Twilight from Close To My Heart
    • Papers - PaperTrey kraft and dark chocolate CS, My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Gurtie DP pad
    • Tools - Sewing machine, Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities circle die, Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die, Fiskars edge punch, Copic markers
    • Embellishments: Sakura Stardust clear glitter pen, Ranger Glossy Accents, misc. red wool felt, thread & button, the Twinery maraschino bakers twine
    • Techniques - paper piecing

    Meljen's Designs - Recipe Challenge

Here we go! This is my first post using Microsoft Live Writer. Blogger has been frustrating me lately so I thought I would try something new. I like the “What you see is what you get” aspect of Live Writer. But, like all Microsoft products, I am sure it will lure me in, get me hooked, and then break or fail in some way, leaving me miserable.

Okay, I know you didn’t come here today to listen to my MS woes so I will get onto “bidness”. The new Meljen’s Designs challenge is a recipe challenge. We want to see 3 colors, 2 patterned papers, and 1 bow. Here is my project using one of the images being released today.

I also used the freebie from the Meljen’s Designs blog from Monday.

Here is a peek at all the new images that are now available at Whimsy Stamps.

For the whole month of April, you can purchase the images as a set or individually (your choice) by visiting this page on the Whimsy store site. Please consider helping this special cause by purchasing one or all of the digital images we are offering.

The hop starts today on Crissy's blog and runs from now through Sunday, April 10, at noon. There will be several opportunities to win blog candy! Four random commenters will get a chance to receive one of the three individual images or Ann's sentiment set. So be sure to leave comments all along the way for your chance at a free digi! Also, if you post the "Help for Japan" button on your blog's sidebar, you can enter into the draw for the grand prize! The grand prize will consist of the entire digital set made just for this cause as well as a gift certificate donated by Ann of Raindrop Echo Designs worth 10$ to use at the Whimsy Stamps store! To enter, you must help us advertise for this cause by posting the "Help Japan" button on your blog's side bar (just grab it from my side bar or from the top of this post) and then get your name on the Inlinkz option on Crissy's post so we can be sure to find the winner.

Whimsy Stamps April Digi Blog Hop

This is my third post of the day. Please scroll down or click HERE for my Meljen's Designs blog hop post and HERE for my blog candy post.

Welcome to the Whimsy Stamps April digi blog hop. You should have come from Jackie's blog. If not, the hop starts at the Whimsy Inspiration blog. Be sure to leave comments at all the stops on the hop for your chance to win. 2 mystery blogs will be giving away a digital stamp of the winner's choice from Whimsy Stamps to a random commenter. The winners will be announced on the Whimsy Inspiration blog. You have until Friday, April 8th, noon EST to complete the hop to be entered in the prize drawings.

I know I say it every time but really, the new images are just the cutest. I don't know how these talented artists keep coming up with cuter and cuter images each month. For my card, I used Bunny with Flowers, a new digi from Crissy Armstrong. I also used a digital sentiment from Raindrop Echo Designs, which is available on Whimsy Stamps, and coordinates perfectly with this sweet bunny. I like this image and sentiment together because the card can be used for so many different occasions, Easter, Mother's Day, Get Well, Thinking of You.

I am the last stop on the hop which means I will be hosting the drawing for the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize consists of 5 new digital stamps of the winner's choice from Whimsy Stamps. The winner will also get the opportunity to use those new digital images as a guest designer for Whimsy Stamps for the entire month of April. To enter the drawing, please use the linky tool below. The winners will be announced on the Whimsy Inspiration blog after the hop ends.
