Where were you?

I wanted to take a moment on the anniversary of that tragic day in September 2001 to reflect. Looking at the videos from that day and the aftermath still brings tears to my eyes.

I was 7 months pregnant and when I walked into my office in Pewaukee, no one was at their desks. Some one told me every one was in the conference room because a plane flew into the World Trade Towers and they were watching the news on the TV back there. I put my purse and stuff down and walked into the conference room just in time to see the 2nd plane hit. I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing.

My thoughts and prayers go out for all the family members that lost someone that day and for the survivors of that horrible attack.

Hi Cheryl. I was getting ready for work and my Husband called me into the living room. Just as I got there and asked him what in the world was he watching the second plane flew into the second tower. I still to this day can not believe what my eyes were seeing let alone know that it wasn't just some movie. My babies were 3 and 4 at the time and even though we were far away from it and all I would not let my Hubby take my oldest to preschool that day. I did have to work, but the whole day was so surreal. Even now when I think of it and I sit and watch all the programs and answer my now 14 and 13 years' questions it is still so hard to comprehend exactly how evil the whole thing is. As you can tell I can't even write a comprehensive statement about the whole thing. It is just so much to take in. I hope that you have a wonderful day today and that you take an extra moment to give your family a hug. Thanks for sharing and letting me go on. Hugs, Lisa G

Living in South Africa, I didn't even know what the World Trade Centre was and when our IT guy, who was busy setting up for a video conference at that time came running down the corridor on our Executive Management floor, where I worked, shouting that a plane had just hit the WTC, we rushed after him to see what was going on. The absolute horror that enfolded before our eyes was unbelieveable. Initially I thought it was a clip from one of your movies, until Rick explained that this was a live broadcast and that what we were viewing was a terrorist attack on America. We sat in absolute disbelieve, tears streaming down our faces for a nation that was going through a living Hell. Although we're so many miles apart, we too remember all the American citizens this day who lost their lives and to the families that lost a loved one. God bless you all! My prayer is that your country (and any other), will NEVER experience this again. hugs Sharon

Still even 10 years later it seems so unreal that this happened.

I was at work (I lived in Canada at the time) and couldn't believe such a horrifying thing had just happened to our close friend and neighbor, the U.S. Now that I live here, it has even more meaning.

I had just left a United Way Kick Off Breakfast to go to work at a UW agency. It was our annual UW Day of Caring. I heard the news as I filled my car up with gas and turned on the radio. The only station I could get was Howard Stern describing the horrors word for word. It is the only time I have had respect for Howard Stern. The pain, horror and anguish in,his voice was unbelievable.

I have the T-Shirt we were given that morning. It said
September 11, 2001, A Day of Caring. I put that shirt in the time capsule from my grandson that was born in 2001. We will give it to him on his 21st Birthday.

Hugs

Such an incredibly sad day. I watched way too much footage of it yesterday, that it totally messed up my head for sleeping last night. Hubby was in Atlanta for business that day, and I was just terrified when I heard they were grounding the planes. He managed to get a car and drove the whole way home...He never saw any footage live, just what he was hearing on the car radio. Such a scary day...
