Last Post for 2012

I can’t believe we are at the end of 2012.    I hope that 2013 is a little smoother than this past year has been.      I have one last project to share with you.I made this card for my hubby’s birthday last week.   I had to look at a lot of image on google in to color this guy.   He looks like the one that sometimes visits my yard.   He is missing the light colored speckles from his back but, to be honest, I was afraid of messing him up if I tried to add them.Thank you for stopping by!   Have a Happy New Year!   While you are here, don't forget to check out my blog candy!  (click on photo below for details)Supplies:Stamps:  Fall Pheasant (digital stamp) from Digi Doodle Shop, Background Basics & Tiny Tags II from Papertrey Ink:  Close To My Heart Chocolate & Autumn Terracotta ink, Papertrey kraft ink, Distress Ink antique linen Papers:  Neenah crest solar white, Papertrey kraft CS, Memory Box Valise paper pack Tools:  Sewing machine, Big Shot, Sweet n Sassy leaf die, Paper…

One Little Christmas Tree

The entire time I was working on my card, the song “One Little Christmas Tree” was going through my head.   Do you remember that one?  (If not, you can hear it here.)  “One little Christmas tree can light up a home….”  Isn’t it perfect with this cute image? Speaking of this cute image, did you get a chance to download this from the Whimsy and Stars Studio blog a couple of weeks ago?   If not, it’s too late now but make sure you sign up as a follower so that you don’t miss out on any future freebies.   (You can also keep in touch in the Whimsy & Stars Studio group on Facebook HERE.)I tried something different (for me) again.  This card fits in a business sized envelope.  I also wanted to use the negative space from the die cut letters.    The only difficulty that I had was running the PTI card stock through my printer.  Although I love their paper, my printer is not a fan and doesn’t want to run it through with out jamming.I hope you have a fabulous week!  Thank you for stopping by…

Merry & Bright Gingerbread Boy

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Did you find any super Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals?    I was pretty good.  I bought a few Christmas gifts on Etsy and managed to stay strong and not take advantage of any of the super deals some of my favorite paper crafting sites were having.   It was soooo hard.   Usually when shopping for Christmas gifts, I end up buying more for myself than any one else.  Instead of shopping, I busied myself in my craft room and made a card using “Gingerbread Boy” from Whimsy and Stars Studio.   For some reason, this little guy always cries out for paper piecing when I use him.   After printing him on DP, I used my Copics to shade him and color in the berries and embellishments.    All the pieces have a bit of distressing with the edge of my scissors and are finished off with some paint.    I added some texture using some of my favorite recycled elements – Starbucks coffee sleeves.   (Have I mentioned how much I love using them?)    The sleeves were …

Look Ma!  No stamping!  I made this birthday card for my blogging friend Maria using some of my October Afternoon stash.   I imagine Maria looking something like this when she was younger.  (If you don’t know her, she loves dogs, works as a volunteer at a shelter, and is very involved in animal rescue.)   I didn’t use any stamping on the front of the card, just these cute chipboard pieces.Happy Birthday!  Sorry I was late getting this to you.     Every one else, stop by Maria’s blog (Craftycre8tions) to give her some late, birthday love in the form of a comment. To all my friends in the USA, Happy Thanksgiving!Thank you for stopping by!Supplies:Papers:  October Afternoon Sidewalks paper pad,  Papertrey kraft CS Embellishments:  October Afternoon Sidewalks Chip ‘n Stick chipboard, misc. baker’s twine Tools:  Sewing machine Challenges:Anything Goes Challenge - 2W, 5E - #81 Stitching Real Or FauxFlourishes - #196 Make A card or Project that makes you  feel HappyPapelitos Stamps3E - #20 An…

Give Thanks

With Thanksgiving coming up later this week, I thought I would make one last autumn themed card for the year using my favorite autumn image, Blessed Harvest (digital stamp) by Whimsy and Stars Studio.   I tried something a little different for me, I colored on kraft paper.  As often as I use kraft paper, I realized that I rarely color on it.   I also stepped outside my comfort zone again and left some white space.    Once I was finished with the card, I decided it looked a bit bare with out a sentiment so I created a rub on in order to add one on.  (You can see my tutorial on how to create a custom rub on here.)Thank you for stopping by!   Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends!   Thank you for stopping by.Supplies:Stamps:   Blessed Harvest (digital stamp) by Whimsy and Stars Studio Inks:  Distress Ink Antique Linen Papers:  Papertrey Rustic Cream & Kraft CS, Simple Stories Harvest Lane paper pad Tools:  Sewing machine, Big Shot, Spellbinders Nestabilities (circle),  Die-na…

Happy 11th Birthday

Today is my sweet girl’s birthday!  I can’t believe she is 11 years old today.  About a week ago she told me, “Mom, I can’t wait to see my special card you’re making.”   I’m so happy she appreciates my cards, but man, oh man, now the pressure is on to make a card she will really like.  I hope she will like this one. Since my crafty mojo has been lacking since I was laid off in September, I had to search my Pinterest files for inspiration.  I found some in this gorgeous card from Anna Marie Nelson.I wanted to share some pictures of my baby with you.    I don’t have any digital photos from the day she was born but here is one from her 1st birthday.  And here is a recent photo.   Both show the same sweet smile.Happy Birthday Liz!Supplies:Stamps:   Rosie by Stacie Yacula at Purple Onion Design Inks:  Memento Tuxedo Black Papers:  Neenah Crest solar white CS, Papertrey kraft CS, October Afternoon Cakewalk DP pad Tools:  Sewing machine, Big Shot, Spellbinders Oval Nestabilities, Papertrey l…

Twinkling Angel

Happy Tuesday!  I have a new project using “Twinkling Angel” from Whimsy & Stars Studio to share with you.   Isn’t she sweet? Can you believe how quickly Christmas is coming up?  I actually started my holiday shopping.  I’ve picked up a couple of stocking stuffers, nothing that really shortens my shopping list.    Speaking of Christmas, do you have a favorite album?  I would have to pick either Bing Crosby’s or Andy Williams Christmas albums.   I think I love them so much because they remind of Christmas as a kid.  My mom would always play these on the record player.     Are you looking forward to any new albums coming out this year?Oh well, enough chatter.  I hope you have a fabulous day!  Thank you for stopping by.Supplies:Stamps:  Twinkling Angel (digital stamp) from Whimsy & Stars Studio, Tiny Tags II from Papertrey Ink Ink:  Close to My Heart Hollyhock, Distress Inks Antique Linen Papers:  Neenah Crest solar white CS, Papertrey white & kraft CS, My Mind’s Eye 12 Days o…

Sorry!

I’m so sorry that I have to turn Blogger’s word verification on for comments.  I am being bombarded by spam.   I know how frustrating word verification can be – I personally hate it.   I hope you will stick with me while I try to find a better way to manage all the spam.    Thank you!

Like Peas & Carrots

Today is my hubby and I’s 14th wedding anniversary.   This is the card I made for him.  The colors in the photo are slightly darker than real life.  The matting is carob brown, not black as it looks here.    Oh well.  He says all my cards are the same so I tried to change it up a bit with this card.  I think this is pretty CAS for me.  There is NO SEWING and hardly and DP.   Check out all that white space.   I feel the need to fill it, but I showed some restraint.  :)If you haven’t seen this stamp set, stop by the Sweet ‘n Sassy store to check it out.  It is just the cutest.Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!Supplies:Stamps:  You & Me (clear stamp set) from Sweet ‘n Sassy Ink:  Close To My Heart Chocolate Papers:  Papertrey white CS, Bazzill Basics carob CS, Echo Park This & That Charming paper pad Tools:  Big Shot, Papertrey Banner Basics die Embellishments:  Copic markers, May Arts burlap twine, misc. buttons Challenges:Anything Goes Challenge - 2W, 5E - #80 Anythi…

Holiday Cheer

Did you have a good weekend?  I was able to spend some time in my craft room on Sunday and made 4 projects!   This is one of the first projects I completed.  I want to make sure that I have a few wine bottle tags on hand for the upcoming the holiday season.    It seems like we end up bringing a bottle of wine to several functions over the holidays and I think they are a cute way to spruce up the bottle a bit.    (If you don’t care for wine, these tags are also really cute on soap or lotion bottles.)Although you can’t see it in the picture, the snowflakes are slightly shimmery from LuminArte Icicles.Thank you for stopping by!  Have a great day!Supplies:Stamps:  Santa (digital stamp) from Whimsy & Stars Studio, Holiday Wishes from Papertrey Ink Inks:  Distress Ink Antique Linen, Close To My Heart Cranberry Paper:  Papertrey kraft & rustic white CS,  October Afternoon Holiday Style paper pad Tools:  Sewing machine, Big Shot, Papertrey wine bottle tag and damask snowflakes dies, S…
