Santa & Pup

Hello!  I have an extra card to share with you this week.  A few weeks ago, I took a vacation day from work and spent the day crafting with a friend.   I had fun coloring some images just for fun, not for a DT project.  This is one of the images I colored.

2013-12-04 KSS girl WM

I used some liquid pearls to accent this image.  I have to say I have a love/hate relationship with liquid pearls…  When they work well and come out nicely, I love them.   In this case, I hated them.  When I was half way done adding the pearls, a big ol’ splat came out on my project.  I painstakingly cleaned it up and went on to have another splat come out.   After some choice words, I cleaned it up and finished it.  Of course then when I picked up the image to set it aside to dry, I put my thumb right in to some of the pearls and smooshed them all over.   Grrrrr……    I don’t think it turned out too bad after the pearl –tastrophe was fixed.

Anyhow, enough babble from me.  I had a hard day at work today and I am heading off to bed early.

Thank you for stopping by!

Great Impressions Stamps - Oh Christmas Tree!

Can you believe it is December?  The time is just flying by.  I am jealous of all the people that were able to get their Christmas trees decorated this weekend.   We had our carpets cleaned and by the time they were dry and all the furniture and stuff was moved back, I was too tired to start on the tree.  Next weekend we’ll get it up.

Speaking of time flying, December is my final month as a designer for Great Impressions Stamps.  I can’t believe a year has gone by already.   So, for my fourth to last project, I create a card using Oh Christmas Tree (E402) from Great Impressions Stamps.

For both of my projects I used Saint Nicholas (E659) from Great Impressions Stamps.  I just love this image.   He looks  great colored but you can also leave him uncolored for another great look.

Here’s a closer look at St. Nick.  I just want to pinch his cheek.

Using the same image, I also created a Christmas themed wine bottle tag.  I like having a few of these tags around during to holidays to put on hostess gifts.  (They work great on all types of bottles, even fun, holiday scented hand soap.)

Great Impressions Stamps – So Happy Together

Happy Monday!   I decided to take a break from Christmas cards this week.   I needed to step away from all the red and green for a bit.  Instead, I inked up this sweet image, Giraffes (H05), from Great Impressions Stamps.

Great Impressions–Poinsettias & Berries

Happy Monday!  I have a new Christmas card to share with you.   This week I used Poinsettias & Berries (K40) and Season’s Greetings (C427) from Great Impressions Stamps.

I have to admit that bigger stamps like this seem to intimidate me.  I always feel that the card needs to bit bigger to properly show off the image.   But, after coloring this image and messing around with bits of paper, I found a standard A2 layout that I liked.

Music Saves My Soul Saturday!

Marcea has started up the Music Saves My Soul Saturday linky party again.   Yeah!

To celebrate, I actually have 2 picks this week.  My DH got this song stuck in my head last week.  Now, its on every time I turn on the radio.  I’m not so fond of the end of the video, but still like the song.

The second one is from Grace Potter.  I love this song.  I saw one of her shows in Milwaukee a few years ago.  She’s come a long way from the young girl in jeans and a t-shirt I saw give a kick-a$$ show.

If you would like to play along, drop by Marcea’s blog to link up your song choice for the week.

Catered Crop–Canning Jar Recipe Swap

Can you believe it is the beginning of October?  Where has the time gone?  This year is just flying by.

Talking about time flying by, it’s already time for a new recipe swap at the Catered Crop.   For this swap Linda is asking us to use canning jars in our creations.  How fun!  Canning jars are so popular in crafting right now.   Since it is the start of October, I decided to give my “canning jar” project a Halloween feel.

2013-10-01 cc Eyeballs WM

I was happy to have the chance to pull out some new goodies that I recently bought from Papertrey Ink that were just perfect for the challenge.    Then, I realized that although I bought a couple of sets of Friendship Jar fillers and the die, I didn’t order the actual Friendship Jar stamp set.   So I had to improvise.  I used the die to cut a jar from vellum and another one from thin transparency film.  I stitched them together almost 3/4 of the way around the jar and then slipped in some googly eyes that I had stashed away.  The jar lid and stars are cut from Starbucks coffee sleeves.

2013-10-01 cc Eyeballs close wm

When I was digging through my buttons for the card, I found my jar of plastic spiders.    (Who doesn’t have a jar of plastic spiders on their crafting desk? )  I thought the spider was the perfect finishing touch.   I have to admit I was sorely tempted to strategically place a few around the house to see if I could surprise my family.   I skipped it because the last time I tried something like that my daughter turned the joke around on me.  I almost jumped out of my skin when I pulled back the covers on my bed and found a spider.  Thank goodness it was one of the plastic ones.

Any how….  Back to the recipe swap.  Linda curated a Pinterest board to help give us some inspiration.  You can click on the photo below to be taken to her Pinterest board: Canning Jars
